He was born November 19, 1867 in Rutland, the son of William B and Mary (Clancy) Poland. surviving are his wife, Nina, whome he married in 1914; four sons, William of Sheboygan, Wis., George of Grand Rapids, Clifford of Lansing and Charles of Middleville; seven daughters, Mrs. Mary Cramer and Mrs. Dorothy Lewis of Hastings; Mrs. Donna More, Miss Henrietta and Miss Doris Poland, all of Middleville; Mrs. Elsie Clemens of Kalamazoo and Mrs. Betty Christie of Lansing; four brothers, Martin of Allegan, Harry of Lincoln, Ray of Detroit and Fred of Grand Rapids; and two sisters, Mrs. Clella Kolar of Middleville and Mrs. Elsie Wintermute of Detroit. Mr. Poland's first wife, the former Phoebe Oakes, whom he married March 6, 1896, and a son Fred by her, preceded him in death. Services will be conducted by the Rev. Fay Demarest from the Leonard chapel at 2 p.m. Thursday and burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery at Middleville.
