Burdis February 8, 1922 – March 14, 2014 BURDIS, EDWARD A. Bay City, Michigan Mr. Burdis passed away Friday morning, March 14, 2014 at his residence at the age of 92. The son of the late Vincent and Martha (Trepkowski) Burdulis was born February 8, 1922 in Bay City, Michigan. Mr. Burdis was a member of Our Lady of the Visitation Catholic Church. He was retired from Grey Iron Foundry in Saginaw. Mr. Burdis enjoyed playing cards, gardening, especially his tomato plants and camping. Mr. Burdis proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during W.W.II aboard the U.S.S. New Mexico and received eight battle stars. Left behind to cherish his memory are his children, Paul (Katie) Burdis, Michael (JoAnne) Burdis, Debbie Burdis, Linda (Ken Howard) Rivard; his grandchildren, Dominic Burdis, Tony Burdis, Jason (Melanie) Burdis, Janelle Burdis, Connie Burdis, Jeff (Lindsay) Rivard, Melissa (Jeff) Therkildsen; two great-grandchildren, Claire and Isabelle Therkildsen; his sisters-in-law, Elaine Monaghan, Gloria Burdis, and Mary Lou Burdulis; many nieces and nephews; and his favorite pet dog, Mooch. In addition to his parent he was also preceded in death by his wife, Clarine (Monaghan) Burdis; his sisters, Isabell, Evelyn, Adeline, Delores and Dorothy; his brothers, Walter, Frank, Eugene, and Robert. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated Monday, March 17, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Visitation Catholic Church. The celebrant will be Rev. Fr. Stephen J. Fillion. The Rite of Committal and Military Honor's conducted by the Bay County Veterans Council will take place at Floral Gardens Cemetery. The family will be present at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. on Sunday from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. The Vigil for the Deceased will take place Sunday at 6:45 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Burdis will be taken to the church on Monday to lie in state from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider donations to the Bay County Humane Society or McLaren Visiting Nurse Services and Hospice.
