Burdis November 24, 1923 – July 12, 2013 BURDIS, ROBERT M. Bay City, Michigan Mr. Burdis passed away early Friday afternoon July 12, 2013 at his residence. Age 89 years. He was born November 24, 1923 in Bay City, Michigan and has resided here all of his life. Bob was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, graduated from Bay City Central High School, retired from the United States Post Office as a letter carrier and served with the United States Army during WWII. He enjoyed spending time coaching at South West Little League for many years and was active with many other sports including bowling, volleyball, playing horse shoes and was an avid Detroit Tigers fan. On April 15, 1950 he married the former Gloria E. Mattson in St. Joseph Catholic Church and she survives his passing along with five children and their spouses, Judy and Tom Reif of Bay City, Karen and Wilson Samborn of Bay City, Terry and Julie Burdis of Freeland, Tim and Kym Burdis of Hudsonville, Michigan and Rob and Teresa Burdis of Lake City, Minnesota; fourteen grandchildren; Nick and Megan Reif, Autumn, Sage and Sawyer Samborn, Erin, Ashley, Craig and Rachel Burdis, Kyle, Chris, Katie Burdis and Landin and Anna Burdis; two great grandchildren, Logan Burdis and Grayson Keller and the family is expecting twin great granddaughters. He is also survived by one brother, Ed Burdis; many nieces, nephews, one cousin and his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. The Funeral Liturgy and Rite of Committal will take place Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Celebrant will be Rev. Fr. Emmet L. Marceau with private interment at Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. on Monday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Mr. Burdis will be taken to the church on Tuesday, lie in state from 10:00 a.m. and until the time of service.
