"Champ" Bay City, Michigan At the age of 73 years, John died at his home Thursday, March 2, 2017. He was born to Theodore J. and Mary M. (Zajac) Glaza on June 17, 1943, in Bay City, where he resided all his life. John was a graduate of St. Stanislaus High School and before his retirement, he was with Labor Relations at GM's Bay City Powertrain Plant. As a Michigan sports enthusiast, he enjoyed golfing, hunting, and fishing with family and friends. Watching the Detroit Tigers, Red Wings, Pistons, and Lions kept John entertained. He was also an avid professional golf fan and enjoyed following the Michigan Wolverines. One of his favorite hobbies was cutting firewood in northern Michigan. He just loved to be outside, even just to watch the birds or look at the trees. John also loved to read and frequented the Bay County Library weekly. His kind and gentle spirit and quick wit will be greatly missed by his friends and family. John was married to Pamela A. Dancik on September 25, 1996, and she survives him, along with three children, Scott (Danielle) Glaza and their children Nick, Kala and Kennedy, Marc (Heather) Glaza and their children Alexandr and Samuel, and Sherry (Phil) Nadeau and their children Theophil (Teddy) and Lucas; two stepdaughters, Julie Veresh and Jamie (Jan) Choike and their children Adelynn and Eleanor; along with his brother David (Billy and Nancy) Glaza. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Nancy Maliszewski and Elaine Van Mullekom, and brothers, Robert (Jimmy), Richard (Dick), Thomas (Tommy); as well as his brothers-in-law, Donald Trim and Richard (Dick) Mrozinski. He is also survived by the mother of his children, Mary (Franek) Glaza. Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held Monday, March 13, 2017, at 11:30 AM in the W. A. Trahan Funeral Chapel, 256 N. Madison at Tenth Streets, Bay City, Michigan with Rev. Thomas M. Kowalczyk presiding. Memorial contributions may be directed to American Heart Association or Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Visiting time with the family will be Monday, March 13th from 9:30 AM until the time of service at the Trahan Chapel.
