Ingersoll Clare E. Ingersoll, 80, of Riverdale, died Monday, August 21, 1989 at Gratiot Community Hospital in Alma. Services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Thursday at the Lux-Moody-Wolfel Funeral Home in Alma with the Rev. Hervey Sewell of the Church of Christ officiating. Burial will take place at Ferris Center Cemetery in Vestaburg. Friends may call at the funeral home from 1 to 9 p.m today, and until the time of service Thursday. Mr. Ingersoll was born Oct. 19, 1908 in Bethany Township. He was the son of Ezra Ingersoll and Cora McVay. He married Dorothea Metzgar Nov. 21, 1953 in Toledo, Ohio. She survives. Mr. Ingersoll attended school in St. Johns as a boy. He moved to Bay city where he worked for Willman Dynamics for many years. He also farmed and sold real estate. He moved back to the are in 1973. In addition, he served in the armed forces in Europe during World War II, was a member of the V.F.W. Post 1454 in Alma and a member of the Church of Christ. In addition to his wife, Mr. Ingersoll is survived by a son, Roger Metzgar of Houston, Texas; a daughter, Sandra Hecht of Saginaw; eight grandchildren; three sisters, Edna Johnson of Demming, N.M., Rose Bollin of Charlotte, Mich., and Alice Morris of Tipton, Mich. He was preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters.
