Bay City Times December 1 1936
Torka- John Torka 54, 2404 Fitzhugh street died at his home this morning 
[November 23, 1936] at 4:00 am after a two-week illness with pneumonia. He was 
born in Baltimore, Maryland; May 10 1882, but resided here [Bay City, 
Michigan] for the last 50 years. Surviving are his wife Mrs. Catharine Torka; 
five sons Edward, James, Albert Carl and Chester and one daughter Mr. Gertrude 
Zawistowski, Milwaukee WI; one grandchild two brothers Michael Torka of Beaver 
Township and Stanley Torka of Bay City and one sister Mrs. Frances Hine of Bay 
City He was a member of St. Hyacinth’s Church.
