Obituary as published in the Traverse City Herald, March 2, 1893:
Michael Murrell was born in England, Horsted Keynes, county of Sussex, Feb. 11,
1800, and died at his home in Inland, Jan 23, 1893, aged 92 years, 11 months and
14 days, where he has been a resident for 27 years. He was sick 10 weeks and
suffered patiently until death came to  his relief. He came to his end in peace.
He rests, we trust, with the redeemed, where sickness and death cannot come. Mr.
Murrell was twice married. He was married to his first wife, Miss Ann Hills, in
England, where they lived until they moved to York state and from there to
Michigan, where she died. In 1872 he was married to Miss Mary E. Barnard; and
lived with her until the time of his 
death. He was the father of 15 children, 6 sons and 7 daughters by his first
wife, and one son and one daughter by his last wife. He leaves a wife, four sons
and seven daughters, also an adopted daughter and other relatives to mourn his
loss. A wife, three sons and one daughter have gone on before. He leaves a large
number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. It would be almost impossible
to tell the correct number.
The funeral services were held on Sunday, the 29th, at Inland Hall. Rev. O.W.
Youker conducted the services and he was laid to rest beside the wife who died
twenty-one years ago. A large congregation gathered to pay their last respects
to one whom they have known for a great many years.
