BEULAH - Jean D. Evans, 91, of Beulah, formerly of Grand Rapids, died at her 
home Friday, June 18, 2004.
Jean was born April 12, 1913, in Grand Rapids, the daughter of Harold and Helen 
(Colville) Hines. She grew up in Grand Rapids, graduating from Lee High School 
in 1931. She then attended Butterworth Hospital School of Nursing, graduating 
in 1934 as a Registered Nurse.
Jean began her nursing career as a surgical nurse, and later worked as a public 
health nurse for the City of Grand Rapids. She completed her nursing career in 
1970, retiring from St. Mary's Premature Nursery.
Jean was a member of the Monday Study Club, Benzonia Garden Club, and Benzonia 
Congregational Church, where she was a member of the Women's Fellowship.
On March 11, 1939, she married her beloved soul mate, Frank R. Evans; they 
celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary this year.
In addition to her husband, Jean is survived by her daughter, Susan (Ron) Barr-
Coleman of Rockford; two sons, Frank R. "Bud" (Kay) Evans of Mesa, Ariz., and 
Robert D. (Charlene) Evans of Hollywood, Fla.; 11 adoring grandchildren and 10 
great-grandchildren; and three loving nieces.
Her parents, a brother, Charles Robert Hines, and a son-in-law, Donald Barr, 
preceded her in death.
Friends may call this evening, June 22, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Benzonia 
Chapel, McElduff Funeral Homes.
Funeral services will be held at noon Wednesday, June 23, at the Benzonia 
Congregational Church, with Revs. Stephen Davidson and Telfer Mook officiating. 
Interment will follow in Benzonia Township Cemetery.
The family requests contributions in Jean's name be directed to Benzonia 
Congregational Church.

home on June 18, 2004. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, June 23, at 
noon from the Benzonia Congregational Church. Burial in Benzonia Twp. Cemetery. 
Visitation from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Benzonia Chapel, McElduff Funeral 
Home, 231-882-5097
