She was born Dec. 14, 1962, in Frankfort, to Shirley and Paul Leask. Some of her school years were spent in Kalkaska Schools, but she graduated from Frankfort High School in 1981. Tari had a zest for life and enjoyed it to the fullest. She enjoyed the outdoors, reading and spending time with her family and friends. Tari is survived by her father, Paul (Elizabeth) Leask of Kalkaska; mother, Shirley Wollam of Beulah; children, Bari, Dylan and Marina of Seaside, Ore.; siblings, Denise, Mychelle, Christopher, Kevin, Mark, Robyne and Michael. Tari also leaves behind the light of her life, granddaughter, Nevaeh, also of Seaside, Ore.; and grandmother, Lillian Ludka of Traverse City. Many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Tari was preceded in death by grandparents and an infant sister, Angela. Cremation has taken place, and no services are planned at this time. Memorial contributions may be made in Tari's name to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, P.O. Box 650309, Dallas, TX 75265-0309. Published in the Record-Eagle from 3/10/2006 - 3/12/2006. ------------------------------------ French, Tari Lynnette (Leask) SEASIDE, Ore. — After a lengthy battle with cancer, Tari Lynnette French, 43, passed away early March 8, 2006, with her children at her side. A native of Benzie County, Tari moved to Seaside, Ore., in 1995, where she resided at her death. An athletic and vivacious spirit, Tari's early interests included scuba diving, swimming, drawing, writing poetry, camping and enjoying the great outdoors. She loved music and decorating for the holidays. Since being diagnosed with breast cancer five years ago, she spent most of her time with her children and friends, taking walks on the beach, and caring for her new granddaughter. Her hero was Lance Armstrong, and her motto was "live strong." She is survived by daughter, Bari Katherine French, 20; son, Dylan Jae French, 18; and daughter, Marina Nicole French, 17; granddaughter, Nevaeh Nicole French, 9 months; mother, Shirley Mae Wollam; father, Paul Dennis Leask; stepmother, Elizabeth A. Leask; sister, Denise Ann Hopkins; sister, Mychelle Lynne Hopkins; brother, Christopher Carroll Strom; brother, Kevin Paul Leask; brother, Mark Charles Leask; sister, Robyne Leigh Fournier; brother, Michael Christopher Leask; multiple aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; and in addition, her many friends and co-workers in her adopted home of Seaside, Ore. She was preceded in death by a sister, Angela Anne Leask A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 15, at 11 a.m., at the McElduff- Jowett Funeral Home in Benzonia, with Pastor Carl Greene officiating. Interment will follow the service at the Benzonia Township Cemetery. A luncheon will then be held at the Indian Center on Hoadley Road. In lieu of gifts, the family would ask that contributions be made in Tari's name to the cancer research charity of your choice.
