Hobson, 88, of Traverse City, passed away on Oct. 10, 2001, at Birchwood Nursing Center. Ogden was born in Honor on April 23, 1913, the son of Orlando A. and Helma (Swanson) Hobson. On Jan. 8, 1940, in Angola, Ind., he married the former Donna C. Ott. He was a graduate of Honor High School. Ogden owned and operated Hobson's Grocery, sold and repaired televisions, and drove a school bus for the Honor school system for many years. One of his proudest moments was playing music under the direction of John Philip Sousa at the Interlochen Summer Music Camp in 1932. Ogden is survived by his wife of 61 years, Donna; his son, Ott A. (Patricia) Hobson of Lake Ann; his daughter, Molly (Tom) Rice of Rochester Hills; grandchildren, Oliver A. (Jennifer) Hobson, Jason (Sunya) Hobson, and Samuel and Amanda Rice; great-granddaughters, Megan and Allison Hobson; and his brother, Jack Hobson. He is also survived by many special nieces and nephews, as well as many wonderful friends and neighbors. Ogden was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Waldo, Lester, Fay, Willard, Cecil, and Bruce; and his sisters, Amber, Doris, Helen, and Merle. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday at the Bennett-Barz Funeral Home in Beulah. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 13, at the funeral home. The Rev. Dan Ingersoll will be officiating. Burial will be at the Benzonia Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Ogden A.
