TRAVERSE CITY — Laurie Grossman Potter, 50, of Traverse City, died from esophageal cancer Dec. 23, 2006, with her husband and sister-in-law by her side. She was born July 2, 1956, to Kathleen (Lyons) and Donald Grossman, with two older sisters, Marian (John) Lambertson and Pat (Milt) Clark. She graduated from Petoskey High School and received a B.S. from Michigan Tech. After completing her education, she took up residency in Traverse City. Numbers, money and puzzles were her thing, so accounting became her game. Her pro bono work benefitted the Cherryland Humane Society for many years. In 1999, after a 20 year engagement, she married her best friend Evrid, whose love and respect will never fade. Surviving Laurie is her husband Evrid; two sisters, Marian of Petoskey and Pat of Redding Ca.; her best friend and sister-in-law, Pamela H.P. Potter (Leslie) Hintz; and brother-in-law, Fred Potter. Special thanks should be given to friends and neighbors Duane and Janet Russell, whose support was invaluable. Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 29, at the Reynolds Jonkhoff Funeral Home, with pastor Jim Schlabach officiating. Burial of her cremains will take place at the Benzonia Township Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Cherryland Humane Society. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Reynolds Jonkhoff Funeral Home; www.reynolds-jonkhoff.com. Published in the Record-Eagle on 12/27/2006.
