He was born May 15, 1922, in Neenah, Wis., the son of Frank W. and Eva (Mayhew) Rieschl. Bob graduated in 1940 from St. Mary Catholic High School in Menasha, Wis., where he excelled in sports, especially football, where he earned All-State honors as a running back. He was a captain in the U.S. Army Air Corps, serving on B-24s during World War II. After being honorably discharged, Bob worked in the tool and die industry as a jig bore operator and as a commercial airline pilot. Later, he worked for M.H. Detrick as a sales engineer, designing air pollution abatement equipment for the steel industry. In 1972, Bob and his wife Rosemary purchased Crystal Lake Golf Club in Beulah, which at that time was nine holes. In 1987, he fulfilled his dream of adding a back nine, making it an 18-hole golf course. In 1989, Bob retired and split his time between Beulah in the summer months, and Carrabelle, Fla., during the winter. He was an avid golfer, fisherman, hunter and sports fan. On July 1, 1947, at St. Martin-on-the-Lake in Detroit, Robert married Rosemary Flanagan, who survives him. He is also survived by two daughters, Marianne Fleetwood of Benzonia and Maureen Rieschl of Milan; one son, Matthew R. Rieschl of Beulah; and eight grandchildren, Steven, Brian and Dan Fleetwood, Jacquelyn LaValley, Carrie (Dwight) Pepper, Kate and Elizabeth Johnson and Shawn Johnson Rieschl. Robert was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Michael J. Rieschl; and his sister, Marjorie Hartung. The family will receive friends today, Oct. 28, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Bennett- Barz Funeral Home in Beulah, with a rosary service at 7:30 p.m. Memorial Mass from the Order of Christian Funerals will be celebrated at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 29, at St. Raphael Catholic Church in Copemish, with Father Raymond Sonefeld officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Munson Hospice.
