He was born May 5, 1916, in Fort Worth, Texas, the son of Justo and Iladia (Ybarra) Sanchez. Agustin was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He worked on Stone's Farm in Beulah for 24 years. He then worked for Petmilk for 10 years; and most recently for Cherry Growers, until his retirement in 2001. In his spare time, Agustin enjoyed fishing and playing the guitar. He also enjoyed playing baseball when he was younger. On Aug. 1, 1938, Agustin married Espetacion Lopez, who survives him. He is also survived by 10 children, John (Barbara) Sanchez of Honor, Simona Lopez of Benzonia, Petra (Albert) Gonzales of Ohio, Gerardo (Mary) Sanchez of Thompsonville, Frank (Mary Luisa) Sanchez of Benzonia, Gregoria (Tomas) Rendon of Texas, Gloria (Sergio) Perez of Texas, Susana Sanchez of Benzonia, Agustin (Mary) Sanchez Jr. of Frankfort and Albert Sanchez of Benzonia; 37 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Paula (Santiago) Cortez of Texas, and Guadalupe Alvardo of Texas; one brother, Ernesto (Lupe) Sanchez of Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews. Agustin was preceded in death by two sisters, Petra Gonzalez and Juanita Sanchez; and one brother, Tiburcio Sanchez. Visitation will be held Sunday, July 30, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Bennett-Barz Funeral Home in Beulah, with a reciting of the rosary at 7:30 p.m. A Mass from the Order of Christian Funerals will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Monday, July 31, at St. Ann Catholic Church in Frankfort, with the Rev. Ray Cotter serving as celebrant. Interment will be in the Benzonia Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Ann Catholic Church, Munson Hospice or to the American Cancer Society.
