Cremation Service, Benzonia.

GLORIA T. SELF, 83, of Benzonia, died Thursday, Nov. 29, 2007, at the Maples, 
Frankfort, surrounded by her family. 

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday in the Jowett 
Family Funeral Home, Benzonia. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, 
also at the funeral home, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial 
will be in the spring at the Benzonia Twp. Cemetery. 

Jowett Family Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, Benzonia, Where Beautiful 
Ceremonies Celebrate Life, is handling the arrangements.

Self, Gloria T.  
 
BENZONIA — Gloria T. Self, 83, of Benzonia, died Thursday, Nov. 29, 2007, at 
the Maples, Frankfort, surrounded by her family. Gloria was born July 10, 1924, 
in Detroit, to Michael and Hilda Turkowski.

She married Leonard Self Jr. on July 25, 1942, in Detroit. Gloria and Leonard 
moved to Benzonia in April 1984, coming from Detroit. 

She attended Lighthouse Church of God. 

Early in her life she had a ministry of crocheting items to send to 
missionaries. Gloria enjoyed reading her Bible and mystery stories. She was a 
loving wife, mother and homemaker.

Gloria is survived by her husband, Leonard; son, William M. (Georgianna) Self 
of Las Vegas, Nev.; daughter, Jaclyn (Denny) McCartt of Warren; daughter, Mary 
Jane Lambertz of Clarkston; daughter, Linda (Tom) Kelly of St. Clair Shores; 
six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; brother, Raymond (Alice) Turkowski 
of Rochester; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. today, Dec. 2, 2007, in the 
Jowett Family Funeral Home, Benzonia. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. 
Monday, Dec. 3, 2007, also at the funeral home, with visitation one hour prior 
to the service. The Rev. Dinah Haag will officiate. Burial will be in the 
spring at the Benzonia Twp. Cemetery.
