He was born on July 10, 1932, in Blaine Township, the oldest son of Dewey and Mildred Putney. Ken graduated from Benzonia High School in 1951. On Oct. 20, 1953, he married Charlotte Case. He served in the United States Army from 1955 to 1957. After leaving the Army, he spent his life farming fruit at Putney Corners. Ken was an avid hunter, fisherman, golfer and he loved the outdoors. He was a life-long member of the Blaine Christian Church, where he was involved in various ministries. Ken recently received his 50-year membership pin from the Masonic Lodge. He was also an active member of the Farm Bureau, and for 20 years, he served as a director of the Honor State Bank. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Charlotte; daughters, Carolyn (Gary) Waterson, Barbara Putney, Kathleen (Gordon) Burns and Janet (Rick) Maat; ten grandchildren, Gregory (Martha), Caryn, Kenneth, Michael and Rachael Waterson, Samantha, David and Alyssa Burns and Ryan and Jennifer Maat. He is also survived by three brothers, Marshall, Dickson and Frank; two sisters, Jacquelyn Kubiszewski and Judith Cridler. Ken was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Robert, Jackson and David; and sister Jenny Osborn. Friends may call on Friday, July 30, 2004, from 4 to 8 p.m., at the Benzonia Chapel of McElduff Funeral Homes. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 31, 2004, at 2 p.m., at the Blaine Christian Church with Pastor Bob Larimer officiating. Interment will be in the Blaine Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Blaine Christian Church.
