He was born March 16, 1920, in Raleigh, N.C., the son of Oris and Jessie (Morgan) Hamilton. Oris retired in 1982 from the Ex-Cell-O Corporation in Hazel Park, where he had been employed for 32 years. Oris was an avid gardener who enjoyed spending time outdoors. He also enjoyed keeping day-to-day track of the weather. Oris is survived by four children, Reid (Donna) Hamilton of Jackson, Carole (Wayne) Porter of Windsor, Ontario, Canada, Laura Hoffman of Honor and Suzie Stern of Walled Lake; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Harold (Velma) Hamilton of Florida; two brothers-in-law, Jim Hillier of Bellaire and Don Hillier of California; and numerous nieces and nephews. Oris was preceded in death by his wife, Viola Hillier Hamilton; two sisters, Helen O'Guin and Marge Hartman; and a brother, James Hamilton. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, April 30, 2005, at 1 p.m., at the Bennett-Barz Funeral Home in Beulah, where visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will be in the Champion Hill Cemetery. The Bennett-Barz Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
