HONOR — Sam G. Rosa, 48, of Honor, died Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2008, at his home. He was born in Frankfort on Nov. 12, 1959, the son of late Hester and Bud Rosa. He married Marcia Whitaker on Dec. 11, 1998. Sam served four years in the United States Navy. He loved life and being outdoors. He was an avid hunter, fishermen and mushroom hunter. He was a "jack of all trades"; he could fix most anything. He graduated from Benzie Central and later became the basketball manager for the school. He is survived by his beloved wife, Marcia; loving daughter, Desiree Whitaker; siblings, Brenda Hall of Melbourne, Fla., Jody Michalik of Rockford, Andy J. Rosa of Victoria, Texas, John and Sharon Rosa, Katie Lu Rosa, Hugh Rosa, Tab Rosa and Toby Rosa, all of Honor; devoted mother and father-in-law, Aleta and Loyd Whitaker; 18 nieces and nephews; 29 great-nieces and -nephews; and brothers-in-law, Thomas and Edwin Whitaker. He also was preceded in death by his brother, Steve Rosa. Visitation will be Sunday, Jan. 13, from 1 to 3 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., at Jowett Family Funeral Home in Benzonia. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 14, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Steve Ayers officiating. Burial in will be in Champion Hill Cemetery. Those desiring may make contributions to the family. Jowett Family Funeral Homes and Cremation Service in Benzonia, where beautiful ceremonies celebrate life, is handling the arrangements.
