Avery, 78, of Otsego, formerly of Galesburg, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2005, at his home. Mr. Avery was born March 26, 1927, in Frankfort to Floyd and Lyle (Michael) Avery. Ken served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. After the war, he was employed in home construction in the Flint and Alpena areas. From 1971 to 1983 he was self-employed as a cabinet-maker. He was a life member of the Comstock VFW Post #6252, the Dad's Post and a member of the Military Order of Cooties. He enjoyed vegetable gardening, hunting, fishing, woodworking and going to garage sales. His CB radio handle was "Ram Charger." On June 12, 1971, in Kalamazoo he married Margaret "Marge" (Loomis) Ramsey, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters and three sons, Carol (Bob) Howard of Battle Creek, Holly (Rodney) Guminski of Port Republic, N.J., Alan (Rhonda) Avery of Oscoda, Bruce (Susan) Ramsey of Bellevue, Wash., and Glen (Kim) Ramsey of Kalamazoo; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Gordon Avery and Melvin (Pelsie) Avery, both of Clio; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Luella (Jones) Avery; his brother Lloyd; and sister Alice Goff. Friends may meet the family from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today (Thursday) at the Winkel Funeral Home Otsego, where services will be at 11 a.m. Friday. Cremation will follow with burial of ashes at Crystal Lake Cemetery, Frankfort. Contributions in memory of Ken may be made to Wings of Hope Hospice.
