Visitation will be held Wednesday, Aug. 17, from 3 to 6 p.m. at Bennett- Barz Funeral Home in Beulah. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 18, 2005, at the funeral home, with visitation one hour prior. Pastor Rodney Knapp will be officiating. Interment will be in the Crystal Lake Township Cemetery North. A full obituary will be in the Wednesday edition of the Traverse City Record-Eagle. The Bennett-Barz Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements -------------------------------- TRAVERSE CITY RECORD EAGLE - 17 Aug. 2005 Betty Rose Gleason Died August 15, 2005 FRANKFORT - Betty Rose Gleason, 86, of Frankfort, died Monday, Aug. 15, 2005, at Paul Oliver Long Term Care in Frankfort. She was born Jan. 8, 1919, in Suttons Bay, the daughter of T. George and Woneta (Oliver) Smeltzer. Betty had worked at the Chimney Corners Resort for over 25 years, staring in the late 1950s. She enjoyed working in her flower gardens and going for her daily walk. Most of all, Betty loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. On Nov. 26, 1938, in Interlochen, Betty married Norman B. Gleason, who survives her. She is also survived by four children, Winston (Dianne) Gleason of Elberta, Brian Gleason of Frankfort, Douglas (Lorene) Gleason of Benzonia and Woneta (Robert) Prenger of Muskegon; her son-in-law, William Boynton of Jenison; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Florence (Owen) Kuberski of California; a brother, Theodore (Jill) Smeltzer of Frankfort; her neighbor and close friend, Carolyn Clement; and numerous nieces and nephews. Betty was preceded in death by her daughter, Norma Boynton; three sisters, Harriet Johnson, Anna Coon and Charlotte Michael; and two brothers, Glen Smeltzer and Rex Smeltzer. Visitation will be held Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2005, from 3 to 6 p.m., at the Bennett-Barz Funeral Home in Beulah. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, Aug. 18, at 2 p.m., also at the funeral home, where visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Pastor Rodney Knapp will officiate.
