He was born Feb. 25, 1942, in Fort Smith. He graduated from Northside High School in 1960, attended Tulane University, where he received a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering in 1964, a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity, worked for Uniroyal. In a 17-year career, he was a chemical process engineer, technical sales representative, a research chemist in Baton Rouge, La., Southbury, Conn., participated in buyout of a division of Ciba-Geigy Corp., was vice president of sales until RPI was sold to Dexter Corp., worked for Graceland Fruit in Frankfort, Mich., was a deacon at First Presbyterian Church in Arlington, Texas, a member of Crystal Lake Yacht Club, Congregational Summer Assembly and Crystal Downs Country Club in Crystal Lake, Mich. A memorial service will be 3 p.m. today at First Congregational Church under the direction of McElduff Funeral Homes Inc. of Frankfort, Mich. He is survived by his wife, Julie; a daughter, Julie; a son, Jay; a stepdaughter, Jennifer Kelly; a stepson, Doug Goodrich; two brothers, Joe and Larry; and two stepgrandchildren.
