He was born Jan. 6, 1924, in Oshkosh, Wis., the son of Reginald and Alice Sanders. Norris married Faith Nelson on Sept. 7, 1946, in Batavia, Ill. He served in the U.S. Navy as a lieutenant during World War II. Norris earned a B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and taught social studies in Watertown, Oshkosh and Manitowoc, Wis. With his son, Steve, he developed an educational software company called Great Lakes Software. Norris was a nature lover, birder, and fisherman. He tried to popularize pier fishing using a bamboo pole and coffee-can reel, but it never caught on. He climbed 200 trees to celebrate the U.S. Bicentennial. His compost pile was the envy of the neighborhood. Beloved by some, tolerated by many ... thanks to all. (written by Norris). He is survived by his wife, Faith; son, Stephen and wife, Kathy Sanders, Columbus, Wis.; daughter, Beth and husband, Dennis Campbell, Bear Lake; granddaughter, Tiffany and husband, James Wakeman and their children, Trinity and Preston Wakeman, Tucson, Ariz.; grandson, Derek Wiencek and his daughter, Makenna Wiencek, Pewaukee, Wis.; sister-in-law, Shirley Leete, Frankfort.
