Stamm Joann M. Stamm, 76, of Aurora passed away Saturday, September 11, 2004 at her home. She was born November 16, 1927 in Batavia, IL, the daughter of the late John B. and Ruth (Worrell) Nelson. Mrs. Stamm was a teacher for the East Aurora School District #131 for over 20 years. She was a member of the New England Congregational Church, P.E.O. Sisterhood, the Westwind Recorders and numerous other recorder ensembles. She was a volunteer for the adult Literacy Program at Waubonsee Community College. She is survived by a daughter, Carol (Leonard) Thornburg of Port Barrington, IL, two sons, John Stamm of Wheaton and James Stamm of Beulah, MI; her two grandchildren, Eric (Melissa) Thornburg of Wonder Lake, IL and Jennifer Thornburg of Port Barrington, IL; two sisters, Shirley Leete and Faith (Norris) Sanders, both of Frankfort, MI; a brother-in-law, Chad (Lois) Stamm of Oswego and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Stamm of Bolder, CO; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Joann was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Richard R. Stamm in December of 2003 and her parents. A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 17, 2004 at 11:30 AM at the Dieterle Memorial Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 10:00 AM until the hour of service at 11:30. Rev. Gary McCann will officiate. Mr. Stamm was an Army Air Corp Veteran of World War II. He was employed at Geneva Construction for 17 years and then Barber-Greene Company for 18 years until his retirement in 1986, and a member of New England Congregational Church in aurora. He is survived by his wife, Joann Stamm of Aurora; a daughter, Carol (Leonard) Thornburg of Port Barrington, IL; two sons, John Stamm of Wheaton and James Stamm of Beaulah, Michigan; two grandchildren, Eric (Melissa) Thornburg of Charleston, IL and Jennifer Thornburg of Port Barrington, IL; a brother, Charles (Lois) Stamm of Oswego; and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Stamm of Boulder, Colorado. He is preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Robert Stamm. A memorial service for Mr. Stamm will be held on Friday, January 2, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at the Dieterle Memorial Home. Rev.
