She was born on March 10, 1912, in Elberta, the daughter of Albert Lyman and Edith Marguerite (Boyce) White. On May 12, 1937, in Elberta, she married Oral Hoopfer. Mrs. Hoopfer was a bookkeeper with the Mason Howard Auto Dealership. She was a member of the Frankfort United Methodist Church. Lois enjoyed gardening, reading and was a wonderful cook. She will be greatly missed by her many nieces and nephews, who will carry her memory with them forever. Lois is survived by her husband, Oral Hoopfer of Frankfort; sister, Jane Lawrence of Ft. Bragg, Calif.; brothers and sisters-in-law; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Merwin and Bob; and sister, Ruth White Stall. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the McElduff Funeral Home in Frankfort. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 4 p.m. at the Frankfort United Methodist Church with the Rev. Kay Coombs officiating. Interment will be in the Gilmore Township Cemetery. The Frankfort Chapel of McElduff-Jowett Funeral Home and Cremation Service is handling the arrangements. -------------------------------------- TRAVERSE CITY RECORD EAGLE - 11 Sept. 2005 Oral William Hoopfer Died September 6, 2005 FRANKFORT - Oral William Hoopfer, 92, of Frankfort, died Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2005, at Paul Oliver Memorial Hospital. Oral was born Jan. 11, 1913, in Milton Township in Antrim County, the son of the late William and Mabel Hoopfer. Oral married Lois White on May 12, 1937, and she preceded him in death on Aug. 14, 2001. His entire career was with the USDA Farmers Home Administration, working in Benzie and the surrounding counties. Oral was a member of the Frankfort United Methodist Church and the Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Oral and Lois enjoyed traveling, and Oral was a lifelong Frankfort resident, spending summers at Lake Ann. Surviving are brothers, Glenn and Ivan; and sisters, Phyllis David and Wilma Zapun. He will be greatly missed by his many nieces and nephews. Oral was also preceded in death by his sister, Helen Larsen; and brothers, Kenneth and Lloyd. Visitation will be Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2005, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., at the Frankfort Chapel of McElduff-Jowett Funeral Home. Oral's funeral service will be held Thursday, Sept. 15, 2005, at 11 a.m., at the Frankfort United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Greg Culver officiating. Burial will be in the Gilmore Township Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
