He had been a resident of Birchwood Nursing Center in Traverse City since July 2002. Cliff was born in Frankfort on Sept. 28, 1932, the son of Mearl and Minda (Schroeder) Kerby. He worked in construction, as well as the Ann Arbor Car Ferries. He proudly served his country in the Army during the Korean War. Although Cliff had no children of his own, he was known affectionately as "Uncle Pook" by his many nieces and nephews. He was blessed with many friends, in particular, Bill Setterbo of Frankfort, with whom he lived for many years, and Bill Robinson. Surviving are his brothers, Richard (Laura) and Danny (Marsha); sisters, Colleen (Ron) Pettengill, Betty Ostlund, Helen (Fordyce) Lentz and Virginia (LaVerne) Parker. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Paul (Eileen), Mearl (Evelyn), Robert (Rose) and John; and sisters, Ruth (Frank) Schettek and Lois Kerby. Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 24, 2005, at 1 p.m., with the Rev. Dinah Haag officiating, at the Frankfort Chapel of McElduff Funeral Home. There will be a visitation two hours prior to the service on Thursday. Memorials may be directed to the Tendercare-Birchwood Nursing Center in recognition of the wonderful care they provided Cliff.
