She was born April 3, 1926, in rural Elberta, the daughter of Marie (Steinberg) and Earl Settles. She graduated from Benzonia High School in 1943. She attended Benzie County Normal and taught school. Undine was concerned about the poor and needy, and she always wanted to give to others. A devout Christian, she offered many prayers to those around her. She gave and received kindness and prayers from other residents, families and the staff at The Maples. She is survived by five sisters, Winifred (Marce) Keillor, Mary (David) Grimm, Joann (Everett) Kittendorf, Carolyn Johnson and Cynthia (Bill) Schnarr; five brothers, Ray, Doug, Merle, John and Bill; several cousins, including Amy (Don) Jones; and over 90 nieces and nephews, which she always enjoyed sharing with others. Undine was preceded in death by her mother; father; sister, Jeannette Mix; and brother, Ken. Memorial services will be held at the First Congregational Church UCC in Benzonia Saturday, May 27, at 4 p.m., with visitation one hour prior to the service.
