Stall Died January 26, 2000 ELBERTA - Louis G. Stall, 82, of Elberta, died Wednesday at Whispering Way Retirement Center in Grand Rapids. He was born June 26, 1917, in Elberta, the son of Louis W. and Catherine Glarum Stall. Louis taught school for over 30 years in the Michigan communities of Elberta, Manistee, Port Hope and Croswell-Lexington before retiring to Elberta in 1980. He was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church in Frankfort and a former member of St. Denis Parish in Lexington where he served on the parish council and in the ushers club. Louis was a founding member and treasurer of the Sanilac County Teachers Credit Union, served on the Croswell Library board, was a life member of the Michigan Education Association and was a member of the Rotary Club. He was a veteran of of the U.S. Army, serving in World War II and earning a Bronze Star. Louis married Ruth B. White on June 17, 1946, in Elberta; she preceded him in death in November 1991. Survivors include his daughters, Catherine (Al) Bryant of Greenville and Ruth Jeanne (William) Kish of Marshall; his grandchildren, Patrick Hudson and his fianc‚e, Ruth Helms, of Chicago, Michael Hudson of East Lansing, Jennifer and Rebecca Kish of Marshall; his sisters, Catherine Stall of Greenville and Jeannette Stall of Elberta; and sisters-in-law, Lois (Oral) Hoopfer of Frankfort and Jane (Phillip) Lawrence of Fort Bragg, Calif. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at St. Anne Catholic Church in Frankfort. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday from the church Monsignor David Guemuend will officiate. Burial will be in Gilmore Township Cemetery in Elberta. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Anne Parish or the Michigan Alzheimer's Disease Research Center (MADRC), Room 3D03, 300 N.
