MARTHA ANNE GREENE, 90, of Cedar, passed away Tuesday, April 25, 2006, at Maple 
Valley Nursing Home in Maple City.

Visitation will be Thursday, May 4, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., at the 
Covell Funeral Home in Traverse City. A funeral service will be held Friday, 
May 5, at 11 a.m., also at the funeral home. Burial will be in Greenbriar 
Cemetery in Lake Ann. A complete obituary will be in a future edition of the 
Record-Eagle.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Covell Funeral Home of Traverse City.

Greene, Martha Anne  
 
CEDAR — Martha Anne Greene, 90, of Cedar, died Tuesday, April 25, 2006, at 
Maple Valley Nursing Home, surrounded by her loving family. A resident of Cedar 
since 1992, she had previously resided in Cookeville, Tenn., and Troy, Mich.

She was born in Tennessee on July 6, 1915, the daughter of Jesse Wayne and 
Sarah Jane (Bull) Webb. Martha married Millard Greene on Dec. 26, 1936, in 
Sparta, Tenn.

Martha was a homemaker and member of the Double Springs Baptist Church. She 
enjoyed sewing, embroidering, square dancing, cooking and baking. She loved her 
family, especially her grandchildren.

Martha is survived by three daughters, Millie (Ted) Dungjen of Cedar, Mae (John 
Petersen) Crawford of Lake Ann and Jane Maas of Traverse City; a son, David 
Greene of Kansas; 11 grandchildren, Laura (Tim) Dungjen, Brian (Michelle) 
Dungjen, Bill (Susan) Dungjen, Maria (Rob) Wolowiec, Matt (Cheryl) Crawford, 
Brett (Suzanne) Crawford, Christy Crawford, Stephen (Karen) Maas, Michael 
(Jodi) Maas, Chelsea Bauer-Greene and Jessica Bauer-Greene; 13 great-
grandchildren, Thea Rose, Jeremiah, Samuel, Andrew, Emmeline, Brandon, Zachary, 
Justin, Jason, Jordan, Tyler, Jake and Kate; a sister, Ina Nelson of 
Cookeville, Tenn.; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Webb of Cookeville; three nieces, 
Dee (Don), Linda and Joyce; and a nephew, Douglas.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Millard Greene in 1995; five 
brothers, John A., Carlos, Orley, Branson and Dallas Webb; great-granddaughter, 
Anna Lyn Maas; and a son-in-law, Joe Maas.

Visitation will take place Thursday, May 4, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at 
Covell Funeral Home in Traverse City.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 5, at the funeral home, 
with Rev. Marvin Rosa officiating. Burial will be in Greenbriar Cemetery, Lake 
Ann.

The family would like to thank the staff of Maple Valley Nursing Home for the 
wonderful care and loving friendship given their mother.

Memorials may be given in Martha's name to Munson Hospice or Maple Valley 
Nursing Home.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Traverse City Chapel of Covell Funeral 
Homes.
