Anna was born Oct. 15, 1923, in East Jordan, to John W. and Clara (Buchner) Holmes. She grew up in rural Charlevoix County. On Sept. 28, 1943, in Charlevoix, she married Howard W. Jewell. From 1946 to 1976, Anna and Howard made their home in Traverse City, where Anna worked at Traverse Geriatric Village, now called Bortz Health Care. In 1976, they moved to Lake Ann, where Anna owned and operated Dreamland Adult Foster Care and Resort. They attended Lake Ann United Methodist Church. Anna enjoyed singing, watching wildlife and looking at Christmas lights. She was loved by everyone she met. Anna is survived by two sons, William Jewell of Arlington, Va., and Darrell Jewell of Grawn; a daughter, Cheryl Fox of Lake Ann; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; a special friend, Dave Arnold; and her dog, Little Buddy. Besides her parents, Anna was preceded in death by her husband in 1987; and brother-in-law, Ronald Jewell in 2005. A visitation will be Sunday, Jan. 15, 2006, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Covell Funeral Home in Traverse City. A funeral will be held Monday, Jan. 16, 2006, at 1 p.m., also at the funeral home, with Pastor Bruce VanDuesan officiating. Interment will be held in the spring at Greenbriar Cemetery.
