"Mac" Died January 20, 2006 LAKE ANN - C. A. "Mac" Macomber, 65, of Lake Ann, formerly of Ferndale, died Friday, Jan. 20, at his residence. He was born Oct. 6, 1940, in Detroit, the son of Alvin and Florence (Miller) Macomber. Mac served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1959 to 1964. He then went to work as a police officer for the City of Ferndale, where he retired as a Lieutenant in 1991 after twenty-six and a half years of employment. In his spare time, Mac enjoyed working on the farm with his tractors and tending to his animals. Mac's special time was haying season when he was able to work and drink Lynchburg Lemonade with his good friends. On July 31, 1985, in Madison Heights, Mac married Sharron Maltby, who survives him. He is also survived by his mother, Florence Macomber of Lake Ann; his daughter, Stephanie Macomber of Lake Ann; and his step-daughter, Shani (Scott Machin) Maltby of Traverse City. Mac was preceded in death by his father, Alvin Macomber in 2003. A visitation will be held Sunday, Jan. 22, from 4 to 7 p.m., at the Bennett- Barz Funeral Home in Beulah. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m., Monday, Jan. 23, at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Interlochen, with Pastor Timothy Mowry officiating. Interment will be in the Greenbriar Cemetery, in Lake Ann, in the spring. The Bennett-Barz Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
