Hobart Sr., 63, of Beulah, died Sept. 19; Bennett-Barz Funeral Home, Beulah. ----------------------------------------- TRAVERSE CITY RECORD EAGLE --- 23 Sept. 2004 BEULAH - Michael E. Hobart Sr., 63, of Beulah, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 19, 2004, at his home. He was born April 7, 1941, in Hanover Township, the son of Perry and Rosia (Onley) Hobart Sr. Mr. Hobart served in the Army, 82nd Airborne, 464 Service Company out of Jackson, and the Reserves, 5033D USARF school for 20 years. After the Army he worked at the Jackson State Prison as a correctional officer for 20 years, after which, he retired in Beulah in 1998. Michael will be remembered as an avid outdoorsman who especially enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. He loved to drive down two-tracks and he drove them often. Michael is survived by his wife, Janet (Reiniche), whom he married in 1964, in Concord; children, Victor (April) Hobart, Michael Hobart Jr. (Mindy Draper), and Amy (Chris) Savett; six grandchildren, Vic, Chris, Ben, Katie, Tommy, and Jaey; two brothers, Robert of Florida and Perry Jr. of Hillsdale; and his faithful dog, Suzie. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his son, Thomas ,who passed away in 1977. Visitation will be held Thursday, Sept. 23, 2004, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., at the Bennett-Barz Funeral Home in Beulah. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, Sept. 24, 2004, at 11 a.m., at the St. Raphael Catholic Church, 18440 Cadillac Hwy., Copemish, MI. Father Richard Kosterman will officiate the service.
