Oakley b. 24 Apr. 1928 d. 17 Jan. 2006 ------------------------------------------- Oakley, Lillian Frances Died January 17, 2006 COPEMISH - Lillian Frances Oakley, 77, of Copemish, died Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2006, at her residence, after battling a long illness. She was born April 24, 1928, in Newburgh, N.Y., the daughter of Franklin and Anna (Ridowski) Smith. On Aug. 28, 1948, in Newburgh, N.Y., Lillian married John L. Oakley, who preceded her in death on March 17, 1988. Lillian was a loving homemaker who enjoyed singing, playing music, cooking and buying lottery tickets. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family. Lillian was a woman with great faith in her Lord, and she was member of Cornerstone Church in Beulah. Lillian is survived by four daughters, Laura (Lester) Rock of Traverse City, Patricia (Charles) Miehlke of Thompsonville, Anna Oakley of Copemish, and Peggy (Larry) Clink of Karlin; her son, John L. Oakley Jr. of Honor; 16 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; two sisters, Sophie Coffman of Georgia, and Eleanor Rodney of New York; one brother, William Smith of New York; and numerous nieces and nephews. Lillian was also preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Margaret. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, Jan. 20, 2006, at 3 p.m., at the Bennett-Barz Funeral Home in Beulah, with Pastor Ted Smith officiating. Interment will be in the Homestead Township Cemetery in the spring. Visitation will be held Friday, from 1 p.m. until time of services at the funeral home.
