COCOA, Fla. — Laurence R. Wheelock, 59, of Cocoa, Fla., formerly of Flint, passed away Nov. 8, 2006, in Rockledge, Fla. He was born Aug. 16, 1947, in Traverse City. Larry was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in Vietnam from 1968 to 1969, and was in the United States Army Reserves, 357th MP Company, in Saginaw for many years. He retired from Delco Moraine/Delphi in 1998, where he worked as a millwright. Larry was an avid fisherman. He is survived by his daughter, Laura (James) Fischer of Bay City; grandson, Shane Bublitz of Bay City; sisters, Janice (Cliff) Mannor of Acme and Carol Ramsey of Kingsley; brothers, D. Kelly (Rose) Wheelock of Lehigh Acres, Fla., and Lynn Wheelock of Sebring, Fla.; several nieces and nephews; and two special friends, John Merritt and James Riley of Cocoa, Fla. Larry was predeceased by his parents, Martha and William Wheelock. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held in his honor Saturday, Dec. 16, 2006, at 11 a.m., at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. Tim Moeggenberg, CFC, will officiate. Military Honors will follow under the auspices of the Cherryland VFW 2780. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Wheelock family.
