He was born Oct. 12, 1921, in Oviatt, the son of Frank and Sarah (Peck) Wilson. When he was seventeen, he served in the Civilian Conservation Corps. Bernie had co-owned and operated Wilson's Garage and Body Shop from 1958 until his retirement in 1995. He attended Woodside Wesleyan Church in Lake Ann, and he enjoyed working on and painting automobiles, especially jeeps. Bernie also loved hunting and fishing. On Aug. 8, 1942, in Traverse City, Bernie married Gladys Violet Clark, who survives him. He is also survived by his son, Loren (Rita) Wilson of Maple City; daughter, Noreen (Richard) Henry of Benzonia; daughter-in-law, Linda Wilson of Interlochen; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Elsie Starkey of Traverse City; two brothers, Arvid (Gladys) Wilson of Traverse City and George (Hazel) Wilson of Farwell; and numerous nieces and nephews. Bernie was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Wesley Wilson; one great-grandson, Joshua Robotham; and three brothers, Edward, Dennis and Elmer Wilson. Visitation will be held Monday, Feb. 7, 2005, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Bennett-Barz Funeral Home in Beulah. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2005, at 2 p.m., also at the funeral home, with the Reverend Daniel Shipton officiating. Interment will be in the Inland Township Cemetery in the spring. Memorial contributions may be made to Woodside Wesleyan Church or to Munson Hospice.
