      BENZONIA - Henry Goorhouse, 91, of Benzonia, died Monday, Jan. 24, 2005, 
at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City. He was born Dec. 7, 1913, in 
Joyfield Township, the son of Garrett and Mary Ann (Lamb) Goorhouse.
      Henry retired from the Ann Arbor Railroad and Carferry, where he worked 
as an engineer. He enjoyed going out for dinner, car rides, taking vacations, 
spending time with his family and visiting with his neighbors.
      Henry is survived by his daughter, Betty J. Freel of Benzonia; three 
sons, Terry (Bernice) Goorhouse of Mountville, Henry L. (Ellen) Goorhouse of 
Benzonia and Robert (Barbara) Goorhouse of Decatur; and many grandchildren and 
great-grandchildren.
      On Jan. 15, 1943, in Toledo, Ohio, Henry married Verbia F. Reynolds, who 
preceded him in death in 1999. He was also preceded in death by his son, 
Forydes Goorhouse.
      Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 27, at the 
Bennett-Barz Funeral Home in Beulah. Interment will be in the Joyfield Township 
Cemetery in the spring.
      Visitation will be held Wednesday, Jan. 26, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 
p.m. at the Bennett-Barz Funeral Home.
      Memorial contributions may be made to the Pentecostal Church or to a 
charity of one's choice. Envelopes are available at the Bennett-Barz Funeral 
Home.

      Died October 20, 1999
      BENZONIA - Verbia F. Goorhouse, 80, of Benzonia, died Wednesday at her 
home.
      Born Nov. 22, 1918, in Ligonier, Ind., she was the daughter of Henry and 
Alice Reynolds. On Jan. 15, 1943, in Toledo, Ohio, she married Henry Goorhouse.
      A homemaker, Verbia enjoyed cooking and taking care of her family. She 
was a resident of Benzonia all her married life and she attended The 
Pentacostal Church.
      She is survived by her husband; daughter, Betty June Graves of Benzonia; 
son, Terry J. (Bernice) Goorhouse of Mountville; three stepsons, Henry L. 
(Ellen) Goorhouse of Benzonia, Robert (Barbara) Goorhouse of Decatur and 
Forydes (Lou) Goorhouse of Elkhart, Ind.; sister, Mary (Russell) Stark of 
Millersburg, Ind.; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
      She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Dale, Jerome and Tom; 
and sisters, Helen, Celia, Emma, Laura and Margaret.
      Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Bennett-Barz Funeral Home in 
Beulah. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home 
with Rev. Edward Gilbert officiating. Burial will be in Joyfield Township 
Cemetery.
      Memorial contributions may be directed to The Pentacostal Church or the 
charity of one's choice.
