TRAVERSE CITY — Leonard Dewane Paxton, 70, of Traverse City, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 9, 2006, at his home with his family by his side. Leonard was born June 25, 1935, in Dundy County, Neb., the son of Leamon and Maud (Hummel) Paxton. He married the former Joyce Albright, his wife of nearly 49 years, on April 22, 1957, in Tuscon, Ariz. Leonard answered the call of duty and served his country as part of the United States Army during the Korean War. He worked many years as a mechanic and enjoyed spending time woodworking or tending to his roses. Leonard had no greater love than the time shared with his family, especially his granddaughter. Leonard is survived by his wife, Joyce; daughter, Mary (Kenneth) Brock of Buckley; two sons, Robert (Carrie) Paxton of Brethren and Leonard (Angie) Paxton of Traverse City; a granddaughter, Mikala Brock; and many other loving family members and friends. Graveside services will be held Thursday April 13, 2006, at 1 p.m., at Joyfield Township Cemetery, with Pastor Jim Roe presiding. Visitation for family and friends will take place 30 minutes prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family or Munson Hospice.
