Burke who being duly sworn according to law, declares that he is 67 years of age, and a resident of Harper, county of Harper, State of Kansas; and that he is the identical person who was enrolled at Pipestone, Michigan, under the name of John A. Burke on the 13th day of August, 1862, as a Private, in Co. "C" 25th regiment, Michigan Infantry in the service of the United States, in the Civil War and was honorably discharged at Salisbury, NC on the 24th day of June 1865. That he was not employed in the military or naval service of the United States otherwise than as stated above. That his personal description at enlistment was as follows: Height, 5 feet 10 inches; complexion, light; color of eyes blue; color of hair, brown; that his occupation was Machinist; that he was born January 22, 1845, at Macedon, NY. That his several places of residence since leaving the service have been as follows: Pipestone, Michigan, then in 1877 moved to Harper Kansas, then in 1906 moved back to Benton Harbor, Michigan, in 1908 returned to Harper County, KS and now resides here. That he is a pensioner under certificate No 1011119. That he has applied for pension under original No. (unknown) That he makes this declaration for the purpose of being placed on the pension roll of the United States under the provisions of the act of May 11, 1912. If so, state the name of your former wife, the date of marriage, and the date and place of her death or divorce.. Answer-(not filled in, pensioner only married once) No. 7. If you present wife was married before her marriage to you, state the name of her former husband, the date of such marriage, and the date and place of his death or divorce, and state whether he over rendered any military or naval service, and if so, give name of the organization in which he served. Of Company "C" 25th Regiment Michigan Infantry Volunteers, was enrolled on the 13 day of August, 1862, at Pipestone for 3 years, and is reported: on roll for Sept and Oct 1862, present and so reported to June 30th 1863. July and August 1863 absent detailed in C & Mchs Corps. August 18th 1863. Sept and Oct 1863, present. Nov and Dec 1863, absent in ??? and Mchs Corps 23 AC since July 28th 1863. January and February same reports. March and April 1864 detailed as ??? by order Maj. Gen Foster and sent to Ky. May and June 1864 same report, since January 10th 1864. July and August 1864 same report. Sept and Oct 1864, present, and so reported to Dec. 31st 1864. Jan and Feb 1865 absent Teamster in 23rd A. C. supply train. March and April 1865 same report. Mustered out a private with Company at Salisbury, NC June 24th, 1865.
