Age 24 years. She leaves a husband and two small children, The funeral service will be held from the house Friday afternoon. ------ OBIT- 1901 - Nathan Wetzel "Daily Palladium" Feb 9, 1901 Benton Harbor, MI Obituary Nathaniel Wetzel died of heart failure at his home in Baroda, Thursday, Feb 7, at the age of 63. The deceased leaves nine children. DAVID SASSAMAN, PIONEER PASSED AWAY SATURDAY David Sassaman passed away Saturday afternoon at the home of his daughter, Mrs F.E. Morrow, of Superior St. He was born in Pennsylvania Dec 30, 1851. When only two years old he moved with his parents to Baroda. Lately he had resided on a farm in Pearl Grange. Mr. Sassaman leaves to morn two daughters, Mrs. F.E. Morrow, of this citty, Mrs F.E. Hoover of Alliance, OH, three sons, Harry, Frank and Bert of Pearl Grange. The funeral was held from the home of his daughter on Superior Street this afternoon at 2 o'clock, Internment was at Crystal Springs. ## OBIT # 2- paper Unknown. FUNERAL LAKE TWP, MAN HELD DAVID SASSAMAN BURIED ON WEDNESDAY, SERVICES IN CHARGE REV. T. BELLINGHAM OF CHRISTIAN CHURCH. The funeral services of the late David Sassaman were held at the home on Superior Street, Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Dr. T.W. Bellingham officiated. Mrs Leighton and Miss Carrie Walker sang three beautiful duets. David Sassaman was born in Pennsylvania, Dec. 30, 1857 (should be 1850 or 1951), and died May 10, 1913, aged 61 years, 5 months, 11 days. In the spring of 1854 Mr. Sassaman moved to Michigan, coming to Lake township where he resided until about 10 years ago when he came to Benton Harbor. The deceased became a member of the I.O.O.F., holding his membership in Benton Harbor Lodge No. 132 and also a member of the Rebekahs. He had been sick about one week, when death came and relieved him of the trials of life here, where rest finds him in calm repose today. He leaves to mourn his depature, two daughters, and three sons; Mrs Frank Morrow of Benton Harbor, Mrs Frank Hoover of Alliance, Ohio, and Harry, Bert and Frank of Pearl Grange. Two grandchildren besides other relatives and friends. Note - first wife was Susan Wetzel. -------- OBIT - 1918 John Wetzel Wed.March 6, 1918 News Palladium, Benton Harbor, MI The funeral services of the late John Wetzel, who died in Benton Harbor, March 2, were held in the Baptist church at Glendora Tuesday afternoon. Dr. _. W. Bellingham, pastor of the Christian church of this city, officiated. The services were very largely attended as the deceased was well and favorably known in that community, where he had lived a number of years. Burial occured in the Weesaw cemetery. John Wetzel was born in Pennsylvania in March 1859, and fell into the dreamless sleep in Benton Harbor, March 2, 1918, aged 58 years, 11 months and 17 days. The deceased was united in marriage to Lydia A. Jury October 21, 1883, four children being born to this union. Having been in failing health for some time, he at last has passed away from pain and suffering in this yale below. He leaves to mourn, a companion, two daughters, Mrs. L. Lily of Carlisle, Ind., and Mrs. Charles Baske of South Bend, Ind., two sons, William and Bert, two brothers, Frank of Baroda and Jerry of Glendora, four sisters, Mrs. Lizzie Wellington, Mrs. Maggie Allen and Cora Wetzel of Baroda and Mrs. Ida Lemon of Benton Harbor, and nine grandchildren. -------- Obit - 1922 - Lydia Jury Wetzel June 16 or 17, 1921 Benton Harbor News Palladium Mrs. LYDIA WETZEL TAKEN BY DEATH Mrs. Lydia Wetzel, Age 64 years, passed away Wednesday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock. at the home of her son, William, 1016 Pavone street, with whom she had been making her home since the death of her husband four years ago. Mrs. Wetzel had been suffering with cancer, and was an invalid for the past year. Mrs. Wetzel came to Berrien County several years ago from Pennsylvania and has made a host of friends during her long residence in this community. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Chas. Baske, this city, and Mrs. Lee Davis of New Carlisle, two sons, William and Bert, both of Benton Harbor, and twelve grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held from the home Saturday afternoon at 1:30, fast time, from there the body will be taken to Glendora where church services will be held at 2 o'clock, standard time. Burial will be made in the Glendora cemetery. ---------- dz
