Colvin Dies Friday After Brief Illness Berrien Springs, July 17—Mrs. Bertha e. Colvin, a native of Berrien county and a resident of Berrien Springs for more than 20 years, died Thursday night in her home here after a week’s illness. Heart trouble was the cause of her death. Mrs. Colvin and her late husband lived in the south for a number of years following their marriage. They returned to Berrien Springs about 20 years ago. Mrs. Colvin had returned two weeks ago from a visit with her daughter in Tennessee. She was accompanied by her daughter who returned to Tennessee Sunday. She was recalled when her mother’s condition became grave and reached Berrien Springs before the latter’s death. Mrs. Colvin was the widow of Samuel W. Colvin, who died Aug. 29 1930. She leaves one daughter, Mrs. Goldie Smith, Memphis, Tenn.; a son, Samuel B., Berrien Springs, and a stepson, Clyde Colvin, Vicksburg, Miss. She leaves also seven grandchildren, a brother, John Loid, Berrien Springs; a nephew, Vern Loid, Kalamazoo, and three nieces, Mrs. Mary Hogue, Berrien Springs, Blanche and Hazel Micheal, Berrien Springs. Services will be in the home at 2 o’clock Sunday afternoon, the Rev. R.D. Spurlock officiating. Mrs. Spurlock is the pastor of the Methodist church of which Mrs. Colvin was a member. Burial will be in Rose Hill cemetery. Pallbearers will be Vern Fisher, Greydon Dean, Ceylon Webber, Marion Hogue, Wade Eidson and Harold Storick.
