April 12, 1896, page 4, col. 3 Thomas Fulton A Former Citizen of Niles Passed Away in Chicago Mr. Thomas Fulton, a former citizen of Buchanan and well known in Niles, passed away at his home in Hyde Park, near Chicago, at 7 o'clock this morning, aged 65. When a young man he worked in a livery stable at South Bend, where he was noticed by John D. Ross of Buchanan, father of Mr. A.F. Ross, who took him and started him on the road, which eventually placed him a position pre-eminent to his constituents. At one time Mr. Fulton, in partnership with J.D. Ross, purchased the present Citizens National bank from G.A. Colby and conducted the same for some time. He married J.D. Ross' daughter and lived in Chicago, having no children. By his shrewd business methods he accumulated a fortune of over half million dollars and at the time of his death was a large holder of Chicago and other real estate. As a man he was well thought of and his open-hearted manners won for him a host of friends, expecially among the poorer class. Niles Mirror, Wed.
