Journal Era, Thurs. April 13, 1933, page 3

Charles Gatchell, a native of Benton Harbor and a resident there during his
younger years, was found dead last week Wednesday in a gas-filled room in Paris,
France.  Gatchell was 50 years of age and had been in Paris three years. 
Gatchell was a journalist as well as an artist.  For a time he was editor of
Picture Play.  In recent years he devoted all his talents to pictorial work
achieving a large measure of fame in artistic circles.  Mr. Gatchel;’s marriage
to the well known writer  Fannie Kilbourne occurred Feb. 12, 1921, in New York
City.  They have two children, twins, living in Switzerland.  The artist’s
mother is Mrs. Mary Gatchell of Benton Harbor.
