SPRINKLE ASHES OF SON'S BODY OVER NEW GRAVE OF HIS MOTHER

	BUCHANAN, Nov. 25.--Funeral services for Mrs. Laura L. Haggerty, 70, who died
last Friday while having her hair marcelled in a Chicago beauty shop, were held
at 2 :30 o'clock Wednesday afternoon in the Buchanan Evangelical church.  The
Rev. Nichols, of Benton Harbor officiated. Burial took place in Oak Ridge
cemetery beside the body of her husband, Roland Haggerty, who died in 1879.  The
dying wish of a son, Clayton, who died in Chicago in July, 1926, that his body
be cremated and the ashes be strewn on his mother's grave was fulfilled in
Wednesday's rites, when the ashes, preserved in an urn since the son's death,
were scattered over the newly made grave.  Born in central Michigan in December,
1857, Mrs. Haggerty came to Buchanan with her parents, William and Catherine
McCoy in childhood. She was educated and grew to womanhood here and married Mr.
Haggerty in Buchanan.  Following the death of her husband, she moved to
Stevensville, this county, where she resided for several years.  She had been a
resident of Chicago for more than 25 years and the apartment house that had been
her residence at her death was her home for 17 years.
	Mrs. Hagerty had been the mother of two children, a son, Harry, having died in
youth. A brother, Harvey, died several years ago. A sister, Mrs. Angie Micheal,
of Berrien Center, Mich., is the only near surviving relative.
