August Haman was born in Mecklenburg Schwerin, Germany on, the 17th day of March 1829 and passed this life August 4th 1920. In the year 1856 he was married to Mary Gerber, and came to America in 1857. To this union were born eight children; Ernest, Charles, Henry, William and August. Three children having died in infancy. His faithful wife preceded him in death October 21, 1918 at a ripe age of 82 years. He leaves an only brother Louis, 5 children, 15 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, 4 daughter-in-laws and 1 son-in-law Ernest Kruger. Burial took place on Sunday afternoon at the New Buffalo cemetery. Rev. J. Hetzel officiating.
