He had been sick two weeks and in failing health for the past several years. Mr. Hamann, who was a retired farmer, was born in New Buffalo on Feb. 27, 1868, son of the August Hamanns. He leaves his widow, Martha, and two sons, Edwin Hamann of Mio, Mich., and Carl Hamann of New Buffalo; three brothers, Ernest Hamann of Three Oaks; Charles Hamann of Michigan City and William Hamann of Gary, Ind; one sister, Mrs. Ernest Krueger of New Buffalo, and five grandchildren. He had been a lifelong member of St. John's Evangelical church where the funeral will be held at 3:30 o'clock Monday afternoon. The Rev. Victor Frohne will officiate and burial will be in Pine Grove cemetary. A Prayer service will be held at the Smith funeral home at 3 p.m. Monday for the family. Friends may call at the Smith funeral home from 9 a.m. Sunday until the hour of the funeral.
