The funeral will be at 11 a.m. EDT Tuesday at the Kerley & Starks-Smith Funeral Home, New Buffalo. The Rev. James Andrews will officiate. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, New Buffalo. Friends my call from 1 to 9 p.m. EDT Monday at the funeral home. Mr. Hamann was born May 23, 1923, in Three Oaks, Mich., the son of Carl and Elizabeth Haas Hamann. On Oct. 19, 1943, in Norfolk, Va., he married Norma Joan Covert, who died in June 1985. Surviving ar three sons, William Hamann Jr., Jimmie Hamann, and Stephan Hamann, all of New Buffalo; a sister, Dorothy Schroeder, of Three Oaks, Mich.; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Mr. Hamann retired in 1987 after 25 years as a mail carrier in New Buffalo. He was a member of the New Buffalo American Legion Post 169. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
