Mr. Hamilton had been a rural carrier here for 18 years. The accident occurred at 6:15 this morning. Mr. Hamilton, who lived in Buchanan, had been spending the summer on a farm near here. He came into town Saturday to get his 12 gauge gun to shoot weasels, which had become a pests on the farm. He was about to use the gun for this purpose this morning. Going into the pantry, he picked it up and his wife heard the report which followed. When she reached her husband he was dead. It was believed the trigger caught on some obstruction in the pantry. Coroner Louis Kerlikowske, who was called, pronounced the tragedy accidental death. Mr. Hamilton was born near Buchanan Feb. 19, 1894. He leaves his wife, Mrs. Esther Batchelor Hamilton, a daughter, Frances; two sons, Robert and John Lee; a brother, Alanson, and two sisters, Mrs. Node Weaver and Mrs. Harry Hartline, all of Buchanan and vicinity, and his mother, Mrs. Howard Wilson, of Dayton, Mich. Arrangements for the funeral services have not been completed. The Rev. Paul Carpenter will officiate at the rites in the Lowell Swem funeral home and at the burial in Oak Ridge cemetery.
