The Herald Palladium carried the obituary of John Hauch on 03 Aug 2001:  “John 
Hauch Buchanan-John Hauch, 85, of Buchanan passed away Wednesday, Aug. 1, 
2001, at Lakeland Hospital, St. Joseph.  Funeral services will be held at 1 
p.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, at Hills Corner Bible Baptist Church, Buchanan.  
Friends may meet with the family from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. today Aug.3, 
at Boyd Funeral Home, Kraig A. Pike Family Service, Bridgman.  Burial will be 
in New Troy Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to, Feed The 
Children, Friends and Family may “Share a Memory” with the family at 
www.BoydFuneral.com  Mr. Hauch was born May 13, 1916, in New Troy, the son of 
the late John and Tillie (Peters) Hauch.  He retired from Auto Specialties 
after 20 years and enjoyed farming.  He was a member of the Weechick American 
Legion Post 518 and was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II.  He 
attended Hills Corner Bible Baptist Church.  He was married to the former 
Lillian Henspeter and she preceded him in death on Sept. 30, 1993.  Survivors 
include: his children-Jerry Hauch of Galien, Julia (Larry) Clayton of 
Pentwater, Mich., Joyce (Larry) Green of Three Oaks, Jane (William) Brackett 
of Niles, James (Vicki) Hauch of Buchanan, Loretta (George) Zielke of Buchanan 
and Lucille (Gordon) Christopher of Illinois; 22 grandchildren; and 19 great-
grandchildren.  Mr. Hauch was also preceded in death by a son, John Hauch, in 
1980; three brothers and one sister.”
