South Bend Tribune 
The South Bend Tribune carried the obituary of Paul Heppler:  “Paul Heppler 
Jr. Sawyer-Paul B. Heppler Jr., 22, of Sawyer died Saturday, May 18, 1996, at 
St. Anthony Hospital, Michigan City, Ind.  The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. 
Wednesday at Swem Funeral Home, Buchanan, where visitation will be held from 2 
to 5 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.  Burial will be in New Troy Cemetery.  
Memorials may be made to the Berrien County Humane Society.  Mr. Heppler was 
born Nov. 13, 1973, in St. Joseph.  He was a graduate of River Valley High 
School.  He attended Lake Michigan College and Michigan State University.  
Survivors include:  his mother, Harlen Brackett Heppler of Sawyer; his father, 
Paul B. Heppler Sr. of New Buffalo; a sister, Heather Heppler of Sawyer; 
maternal grandmother, Arvena Brackett of Sawyer; and paternal grandfather, 
Paul F. Heppler of New Buffalo.”
