Jan. 4, 1894, p. 3 FATALLY INJURED—Yesterday afternoon John Holliday fell from the top of a windmill derrick, at Robert Coveney’s, four miles north of this place. He was climbing the ladder with a ladle of melted babbit metal in his hand, and just before climbing through the platform attempted to change the ladle to his other hand when his foot slipped and he fell to the ground, a distance of forty feet, and struck on his back. His left arm was broken beween the elbow and shoulder so that the bone protruded from the flesh, besides being injured internally. He died this forenoon. He has carried an insurance in the Modern Woodmen Lodge several years, but forfeited it seven months since.
