The funeral will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Swem Funeral Home, Buchanan, where friends may call today from 4 to 9 p.m. Burial will be in Mission Hills Memorial Gardens, Niles. Memorials may be made to the Berrien County Cancer Service. Mr. Howe was born Feb. 2, 1904, in St. Joseph. He was a machinist and gunsmith. Survivors include three daughters, Linda Sperry of Sawyer, Jenny Conway of Niles and Shirley Dewey of Shady Grove, Ore.; foru sons, Ronald of Niles, Gordon of Berrien Springs, Robert of Berrien Center and Raymond of Atlanta, Ga.; 17 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Otto Hauch and John Hauch, both of Baroda; and two half sisters, Evelyn Schutze of Niles and Gustine Anderson of Glendora. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Esther Herman, on Nov. 24, 1978, and by a daughter, Hilda Leidy, on July 21, 1981.” Note: William changed his last name from Hauch to Howe as he believed that was closer to the actual pronunciation of the family name.
