Republican [Note: As reflected at the end, the Republican quoted this obituary from the St. Joseph County [Indiana] Forum] Died At Berrien Springs, Berrien County, Michigan, on the morning of Friday, 24th ult., James Hutchins, Esq., aged about 50 years. Mr. H. until eight years ago, was a citizen of this county. Among the early settlers of South Bend, he developed and sustained a share of the enterprise which built up this village. He constantly evinced the stern constituents of a character of probity and fidelity here, and won the same distinction in Michigan, after the hand of affliction and misfortune had been laid upon him.--His bereaved wife and children have in our filial heart the sympathies of a relative; but we need not obtrude upon the reader a sentiment which cannot be adequately expressed in word. Mr. H. died of inflammation of the Lungs, and was buried by the side of his son Hiram, who two weeks before was carried away, a victim to the same disease.--St. Joseph Co. Forum.
